Brand New Display Model. Track drive provides superior control, traction, and durability on slopes and inclines in all winter conditions. Single-hand control locks in speed, freeing the other hand to operate chute and pitch controls. No more cranking with 4-way electric chute control. This snow blower is powered by a 208cc CRAFTSMAN® engine that features push-button electric start to eliminate pull-starting a cold engine. Its 4-position weight transfer system provides improved maneuverability and performance on all surfaces, while the track drive provides superior control, traction and durability in any winter condition. The 4-way electric extended chute design keeps a tighter discharge pattern to increase throwing distance and reduces snow blowback, and the single-hand control locks in speed, freeing the other hand to operate chute and pitch controls. Clearing width and a 21-in. Intake height, you can save more time with the ability to clear snow quickly. Added features include an in-dash headlight to provide greater visibility in low-light conditions and adjustable poly skid shoes to eliminate garage rust stains and protect surfaces from scuffing. CRAFTSMAN 208cc 4-cycle OHV engine with push-button electric start eliminates pull-starting a cold engine. 26-in clearing width and 21-in intake height. Model 247.888550 Track Drive 28-inch 9-HP Snow Blower. This model has an electric start system and an easy pull type starting system. The specialized cord for electric starting is merely a short 3-prong extension cord. It’s a real great thing to have that electric starter on frigid mornings when you need to hurry and clear your driveway before going to work! The track drive system is rare and remarkable! If you use it once, you’ll just laugh at any personal snow removal equipment with tires. The tracks have 3-modes; heavy front downforce, floating front downforce, and raised front cutting edge. It’s E-Z Steer system makes fine turning control merely a matter of gentile squeezes of the finger. Their’s a turning brake for each individual track as a trigger switch on the bottom of the control handles. A pull of a trigger on the same side as the track stops it’s motion and has the machine effortlessly turning 180-degrees “on a dime” ready for the next cut. I’ve used mine for many years in the Williamsville NY area and it’s only signs of wear are the front cutting edge and the side skid plates. Here’s a good complete trac drive and tranny assembly that came off a 1992 Craftsman 524 track snowblower. The Model # 536 series fits Noma models as well, so check your application. This is the original OEM unit and is in good usable shape and still worked well on the blower. This a good complete unit–thoroughly lube and bolt up, with good bushings, chain and sprocket, and bogey wheels. The sprockets and chains do show some minor surface rust, but the links are still pliable. The rubber track drive still show deep tread and aren’t cracked or badly worn like so many. They aren’t overly stretched, and still worked well on the blower. They are belted, reinforced corded tracks, and should have a lot more usable seasons left on them. The tranny works like it should with good action forward and reverse. The original friction wheel shows cracking and wear , but still worked on the blower. I would recommend a replacement disk at this stage. This blower had been inactive for some time and all zerks , chain/sprockets, and hex shafts need a thorough cleaning and lube prior to installation. Included is the good bottom plate.. This is still a good unit for your Craftsman or Noma 523 hard working everyday snowblower. Certainly great for spare parts on these great ol’ Noma Canadian made blowers. Please look for more usable parts off this 523 snowblower in my other auctions. Now is the time to fix or renovate the blower before next season starts! These make great tank robots too, and can handle rough terrain easily! These are very heavy duty! I recommend a more thorough cleaning and complete lube job prior to installation. Please look at the pictures. Ask any questions that you might have. This is a used Craftsman Tractor snowblower attachment 42′ x 21′ 2 stage unit that fits select Husqvarna and Craftsman Lawn tractors. Manual and parts to fit different tractors are includes as well as chains and rear platform and weight filled with sand. One set of chains fit 23×10 5×12 tires and a second set that fit a smaller size tire. Not sure the size because I don’t have that mower anymore. Here is a link to a fit chart.
