We decided to try this Toro 12 in. 60-Volt Battery Cordless Electric Snow Shovel with 2.5 Ah Battery Plus Charger to see if it would make some of the hard labor a bit easier. When this electric snow shovel arrives, it requires some minor assembly but that was completed in under five minutes. It has a 60 volt battery that requires charging prior to use. Once it was assembled, my wife picked it up and felt that it was very heavy and she didn’t feel she would be using it. I explained to her that you rest it on the ground during use but she felt it was too heavy. Once the battery is charged, it is installed in the compartment on top and is covered with a plastic cover to keep water out. The snow shovel has two speeds which is controlled by a switch on the side of the handle. High speed can be used for high power and low speed is for when you need a bit more control possibly when going around obstacles. The charger can be wall mounted so I keep it behind the shovel ready to go. The battery slips into and out of both the charger and the shovel with ease and snaps securely. The shovel comes out of the box needing the two handle sections to be attached. There is a spring pin that needs to be pressed in while pushing the two sections of tube together. The spring pin aligns with a hole in the opposite section so it pops in when aligned correctly. Then the hand nut on the tube clamp needs to be tightened to completely secure the sections. Last is mounting the auxiliary handle, which has4 – allen head screws. Slip the charged battery into the holder on the shovel and it is ready to go. The unit has two speeds.
